Caged

In the last three books that we have read we have seen the idea of the environment that has an effect on the story. In the Jungle the Slaughter house was a cage that prevented Jurgis from succeeding. In Maggie her environment was the reason why she ended up dying. In Ishmael the cage was the reason why the philosophical ideas of Ishmael where kept caged. The cage is a metaphor for the inability or reason why one cannot be expressed or be given a voice in the world. Seriously how serious would you take a Gorilla that was preaching the idea of life to you? The Cage for Ishmael is his body.
