Environment in the Jungle

In the Jungle it seems to me that the ideology begins with the hopes that immigrants from other countries can come to America to experience ‘The America Dream”. Where anyone can work hard buy a house, raise a family in comfort, but in reality no one in the Jungle has that kind of dream. When you think about the hardships that where faced by immigrants like Jurgis, they wanted to work hard and make a good living. However the problems was work was awful, did not pay well and worst of all was dangerous. The workers of the factory where left in a work environment that did not promote sanitary and the idea of the American Dream. The slaughter house in the Jungle was the reason why people were not able to achieve the American Dream. The environment prompted bad decisions that affect the outcome and lives of the characters.  The negativity of the slaughter house did not just impact the workers it also impact people outside. The bad meat that was produced was killing innocent people. As we have seen from other readings the environment dictates the outcome of the story and The Jungle is another example of how the environment plays a big effect.
